The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced a new application period for the Next Generation Accountable Care Organization program for the second round, which begins Jan. 1, 2017. Twenty ACOs are currently participating in the model’s first round, with the second number of participation awards to be based on available resources and interest levels. The first portion of the application is due this May, with the second portion due in June, according to CMS.
