CMS extended the deadline for Medicare-eligible hospitals to submit electronic clinical quality measure data and attest to meaningful use of EHRs for calendar year 2017.
CMS set its new deadline at March 16 at 11:59 p.m. PT, roughly two weeks after its previous Feb. 28 deadline. The agency’s goal for the extension is to reduce the administrative burden placed on hospitals.
“This extension is intended to reduce reporting burden and is part of CMS’s continued commitment to ensuring successful data submissions to the Hospital [Inpatient Quality Reporting] and Medicare EHR Incentive Programs,” the agency said in a statement obtained by the American Hospital Association Feb. 23.
The deadline for hospitals participating in the IQR Program to request an extraordinary circumstances exemption for calendar year 2017 reporting has not changed, and remains at April 1.
