The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will delay the final revision of Medicare’s 2014 physician fee schedule by nearly a month. CMS intended to release the final rules this week but needs extra time to estimate the impact of the recent government shutdown on fee-for-service payment regulations, according to the announcement. Providers can expect the final rules on or before November 27. Despite the delay, the final rules will still take effect on January 1, 2014. The delay will also affect payment information for end-stage renal disease, home health providers, durable medical equipment, and hospital outpatient and ambulatory surgical center devices.
